Project Description

Building for a century old organization, SGA designed the new four-story headquarters for Pipefitters Association Local 537 to honor the past while setting the stage for future advancement.

This state-of-the-art facility establishes the standards for all other Pipefitters’ locations, and replaces two existing buildings that date from 1880 and 1964. History is enmeshed in the design, and the dynamic lobby integrates displays that highlight a century of achievements and member stories.

The materials selected evoke a workshop environment, including a two-story plywood-paneled wall etched with expressions of Pipefitters’ key values; and a steel-pipe wall that showcases the detail of welded seams, with organizational mottos engraved on water jets.

Encompassing a training center, offices, a multi-purpose auditorium, and classroom, the new headquarters incorporates innovative green strategies, and member-friendly HVAC systems.
