In the 1990s, when our country started out an architectural renovation after long years of war, many small houses with minimum acreage and utilities were built in the cities all over the country.
Nowadays, a lot of changes and improvement have been made in my country such as economic development and people’s living standard. To meet the demands of modern life, some citizens wanted to pull their old houses down because they believed that old houses cannot satisfy their need.
In our opinion, however, this demolition affects not only our environment with an enormous amount of wastes but also causes financial difficulties for those who have limited budget.
Through our observation and fieldwork, with dedicated architects’ support, we think old houses completely meet our demands today.
“Old House” (nearly 30 years old) is one of those houses. With this model, we hope to get support and response from other architects and citizens in order to ease their anxiety and reduce bad effects on our environment.
