Project Description
Considered already as new architectural landmark in the Veneto region, Nave de Vero was designed by architect Davide Padoa, CEO of Design International and his talented multidisciplinary team. The striking design reflects Design International’s unique style, clearly visible in the firm’s other famous projects such as Cleopatra Mall-Cairo, Centerfalls- Beirut and Morocco Mall- Casablanca with the latter even receiving a Guinness World Record.
When the architects at Design International started working on the project in 2010, the brief from the client was that the project should reflect the heritage of Venice’s trading past, be “green” and that it expresses the potential of each and every shop and restaurant.
To meet the brief, Design International began by exploring Venice’s merchant trading history and integrated the past with the present through inspiring design features throughout the project.
“La Nave”- the ship- makes up part of the complex’s grand main entrance. The tall glass atrium, shaped as a ship, dramatically emerges out of the building at an angle, welcoming its guests.
Moving further into the shopping mall, the guests will find “Il Faro”- the lighthouse- which pays homage to the lighthouse of the harbour of Chania, Crete, built by the Venetians between 1320 and 1356. Venice reveals a vast network of Campo and Calle squares and streets.
“La Cittá” – The City -, the final main feature area of the project, takes its layout inspiration from this network and connects shoppers with the restaurant court, so called “Piazza de Vero”.
Nave de Vero is developed by BLO and owned and operated by Corio. Design International is responsible for the final master plan, architecture, landscape design, lighting design and interior design. Design International are the lead architects behind the project, working closely with Milanese-Modena, the local architects on the project; Tecnostudio, the appointed technical consultants which carried out the construction site direction and Moretti, the general contractor.
