Project Description

Lutheran Church of Hope – Johnston-Grimes is a satellite campus of a large, Evangelical Lutheran Church in the heart of Iowa. The 21,150 square-foot building serves as a community and worship center for a fast-growing population within a new suburban development. Gathering spaces, educational facilities, and a flexible 500-seat worship space enable residents to grow and connect within the life of the church and the surrounding community. The building is orientated towards an on-site pond that was used to maximize storm water management strategies; the orientation also connects the building to a series of exterior amenities including an outdoor plaza and worship space. This project represents phase I of development on the 15-acre site. Phase II will include a 1,500-seat worship space, and phase III will include classrooms, offices, and spaces to accommodate arts and music programming.
