Project Description
FROM THE FIRM:
This historical home was in shambles when my clients purchased it. Over its lifetime, it had been purchased and sold several times and, at some point, was subdivided into apartments. By the time my clients purchased, it needed a complete renovation! Thankfully, they were willing to invest. I worked closely with their project manager and hands-on builder to restore the home. Careful thought was given to all details of the home including the color selections, material selections, lighting, door, and hardware styles, cabinet designs, etc. We wanted to pay tribute to the timeless, architectural qualities of the home which are unique to Fredericksburg/Hill Country and use finishes appropriate to the era in which it was built.
We then incorporated many of my client's furnishings inherited from her mother, who died of breast cancer years ago. Most of those pieces were very traditional and worked nicely in this historical home. It was an opportunity to use quality pieces of sentimental value. We reupholstered and refinished many. Again, paying tribute to her mother while maintaining the traditional aesthetic of the home.
I would say our visit to London, where my client has a second home, largely influenced the aesthetic. It was a very insightful trip as to their taste and lifestyle.
