Project Description
Arrowstreet designed the first ground-up charter school in Massachusetts, a new middle and high school in Lynn. The 68,000 gross-square-foot school is designed for 850 students in grades 5-12. Arrowstreet worked closely with the school administration to evaluate the space needs of the educational program and create an efficient and cost-effective layout that includes flexible learning space and breakout rooms. The middle and high school wings bookend the central common spaces of cafeteria, gymnasium, library, lobby, and administrative offices. Located on a challenging hilltop site, the school is cost effective, energy efficient, and environmentally sustainable. Classrooms feature large windows, ceiling fans, and high, sloped ceilings to reduce operating costs by taking maximum advantage of daylight and passive cooling.
