Project Description

BauWerke, in cooperation with HOK London, completes the tenant-specific interior design of the listed former department store “Kaufhaus Hertzog”.
On a commercial rental space of 7,350 square meters, an open office space has been realized that fit into the historical character of the single monument.
BauWerke preserved the historic structure, which was hidden behind cladding. According to the preservation of historical monuments, the architects implemented a modern workplace within the historic surroundings. Consciously, the preserved parts of the magnificent decor were left in their current state. Therefore, the history is readable and it was not necessary to reconstruct. A workplace created with authenticity has been built, which maintains the historic place without sacrificing modern amenities.
