Project Description

Cooper Carry designed a mixed-use development at the intersection of King Street and Harvard Street in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. The six-story development includes a 124-key Hyatt Centric hotel with a 2,500 SF restaurant, 12,000 SF of office space, and a valet-managed parking garage located one story below grade. The hotel was designed to project a contemporary image, while still respecting the historic character of the neighborhood. The building’s brick detailing and restaurant facade recall the historic storefronts that line King Street but with a modern interpretation. To address the neighborhood scale, the building’s mass steps downward toward the residential row houses to the north.
