Project Description

The classroom addition project is designed to create an educational environment that is cost effective yet delights and inspires the students, staff and broader school community.

This new wing addition replaces twelve portables at the existing school. The intention of the project is to incorporate sustainable practices and to take full advantage of Highfield Park to the south as an extension of the school’s play area. The addition creates a landscaped courtyard at the centre of the school which serves as an “eco” garden and playground.

A double-loaded corridor connecting the new classrooms minimizes the construction area, fosters a lively circulation space and provides an opportunity to incorporate various strategies that bring natural light deep into the spaces. The design also provides new seminar rooms and an academic storage room.
