Project Description

The Hearn Residence is located in the city of Belle Meade, a very traditional and highly regulated area in Nashville, TN. The owners of the project wanted a modern residence with ample natural light and a layout that would allow all of the major spaces (including the master bedroom suite) to be located on the ground level. The massing scheme for the house allows the front elevation to maintain a single story street presence with the two story section pushed to the rear of the property. The large front lawn maintains the traditional relationship of the building to Lynnwood Avenue. The single story street level massing allows for the landscape to play a more dominant role on the site. The plan is designed so that the primary living spaces are organized around a private terrace on the ground level. The 4000 sq. ft. residence is organized on three primary levels: Terrace Level, Second Floor and Media Room. The ceiling heights vary in order to keep the building volume as compact as possible.
