Project Description

Following Hawaii Theatre’s renovation of its historic 1920’s interior, and several years of additional fundraising, Ferraro Choi was commissioned to design the renovation of the theatre’s historic exterior. The work included reconstruction of the 1930’s neon marquee and vertical “HAWAII” blade sign to meet the requirements of the State Historic Registry. State-of-the-art Light Emitting Diode technology was incorporated into the new marquee to enhance theatre marketing. Using advanced computer lighting software, exterior lighting and building colors were studied and modeled by Lincolne Scott Hawaii, engineering and lighting consultants to Ferraro Choi.
