This project involved a careful and honest uncovering of its many layers. Distinct new layers are introduced, providing legibility and superimposition between the old and new. The result is a living interactive palimpsest that supports an overarching concept of storytelling, a concept from which the winery was named.
This beautifully edited renovation chooses historic moments without sanitization, highlighting both modern and time-honored building craft. Exquisite detailing of new elements blend and contrast with lightly restored or stabilized building fabric. The balance seems just right for the hospitality use.
