Project Description

The Gehry Residence is a Deconstructivist Post-Modern re-invention of a suburban Dutch Colonial home in California, renovated by Frank Gehry over a span of decades.

Gehry kept the original house mostly in tact, instead building his additions around three sides of the home. In 1991, Gehry added another addition to the home to accommodate his growing family, but this was critically received by some who claimed it detracted from the rawness of the original deconstructivist aesthetic, and made the home look more finished.
