Project Description
A small, dark and out dated kitchen is no place for anyone, especially the master cook that our client is. Wanting a larger and brighter kitchen, we took over the unused space of the nearby dining room and combined it with a small addition to provide ample space for the kitchen and attached pantry. Once the demolition phase revealed the beauty of the century old beams hidden in the attic and floor system above, the stage for the Farmhouse Kitchen of our customer’s dreams was set. New custom Crown Point cabinets replaced the old, providing ample storage and countertop space. The openness of the kitchen allowed for a larger island, giving the owner plenty of work space and seating. Glazing on the cabinets and soapstone counters adds to the rustic farmhouse charm of the kitchen. The new large bay window, full lite front door and cathedral ceiling add light and warmth to the kitchen. Accent lighting hidden on top of the beams help to show the warmth and charm of the rough sawn pine ceiling above. Wanting to maximize storage and minimize trips to the basement for food, the pantry was built next to the kitchen. Keeping with the rustic charm, the existing wide pine floors remained and the ceiling was removed to reveal the beams above. The reclaimed Chestnut countertop installed on top of the Crown Point cabinets quickly became the focal point of the pantry.
