Project Description

After schools, the most important learning environment for the kids is the outdoor playground which help promote exchange of ideas, explore learning and socialize. The aim is to create a welcoming play space that encourages children to play outdoors in a safe and stimulating environment, to have the space filled with shrieks of delight and peals of laughter.
BMC took up an initiative to explore the outdoor play areas at Jogger’s Park near Bandra Carter road, Mumbai. As it is one such aspect being taken away from the life of a growing child due to urbanisation, having an impact on the physical as well as mental health. Therefore, the focus is to create a child centric ward in the city, gradually expanding into all the wards with a motive to enhance the importance and need for more over the years.
The play area is at Jogger’s Park has specially designed play areas with strident colors along with the conventional play equipment’s to promote outdoor learning. “The idea is to have a place filled with magic – a lively escape for the children which in turn will be a symbol of liberty, exploration and endless imagination” as quoted by Ar. Rinka D’monte.
The park is also filled with an undulating surface of tiny mounds, for kids to climb and jump around. The rubber floor covering also has free flowing lines demarcated to direct movement within the park, leading to each play area.
