Project Description

Baskervill designed Virginia’s first LEED-certified tasting room for Cooper Vineyards as the first phase of a project at the winery in Louisa County. Certified by the U.S. Green Building Council as LEED Platinum, Baskervill utilized on-site renewable energy with both active and passive solar techniques and geothermal heat pumps for an 87% reduction in space heating and 46% reduction in space cooling. The facilities’ rainwater harvesting system provides for 43,000 gallons of potable water, while the high-performance envelope creates a 50% more energy-efficient performance. The nature-inspired material palette includes stone, wood, and glass.
