Project Description

Gresham Smith partnered with Cleveland Clinic to design state-of-the-art family health center, which brings several physician groups together in one convenient location. By removing silos between practices and supporting efficiency, the new facility creates a streamlined, seamless experience for patients and provides the same high-quality care they can expect to receive at the hospital.

The clinical areas use a “front-of-house, back-of-house” approach and standardized exam rooms can flex to enhance efficiency. The second and third floors have identical layouts, which creates future flexibility as services lines expand and contract based on demand.

To provide additional protection against hurricanes, the design team raised the building’s elevation. Portions of the building’s exterior use dynamic glass, which blocks glare and controls heat gain to drive energy savings, while tilt-up construction methods offered additional sustainability and resiliency benefits.

A monumental stair at the entry encourages healthy movement, while all entry and waiting have direct access to daylight and views creating comfortable spaces that respect patient privacy.

The Center has an additional 14,000 square feet of shell space for an outpatient surgery center and other specialty services. Gresham Smith also worked with Cleveland Clinic to develop a site plan that can accommodate an additional medical office building in the future.
