Project Description

Play is at the heart of the Children’s Library in Billund. With bright and imaginative installations, the design combines games, learning, wonder, and physical movement in an exciting venue for all ages.

The library offers a curving landscape where visitors can explore playful and fascinating settings. The lava trail of the Volcano leads to a yellow Desert with a Termite Tower ideal for toddlers. A Maker Area gives room to build and construct, and the elevated green Rice Paddies, the grey Island, and the Giant Jellyfish provide new ways to encounter the library’s collections of books, music, and movies.

The design fulfils the library’s vision of being a performative space that supports the creativity of its users, while additionally being a central venue for concentration, immersion, and visits to Citizen Service Center.

Viewed as a whole, the innovative interior offers a holistic learning environment. Fun spaces for playing, acting, and experiments let all age groups interact with children’s intuitive worldview.
