Project Description

Capella Marigot Bay Hotel, formerly known as Discovery Bay, is situated in the lush quadrant of Marigot Bay – an island that’s been described as the most beautiful bays in the Caribbean. OBMI was tasked with the challenge of renovating and upgrading the existing facility, to become a 5-Star Hotel. The design scheme was to extend the island, and creatively reinterpret it into a tropical and modern experience, all while embracing the culture and history of Marigot Bay. Design firm OBMI renovated Capella Marigot Bay Resort with the addition of 122 guestrooms and suites that exude privacy and romance among St. Lucia’s lush foliage. The firm also designed a rooftop restaurant and the Rum Cave, which serves a variety of local rums in a “warm, relaxed cave-like space” featuring natural stone, wood, rum barrels and copper. The renovation plans also called for an Auriga outdoor spa that features treatment rooms in treehouses as well as the addition of a new fitness center and an infinity pool and swim-up raw bar on the highest level of the tri-level resort. OBMI also relocated The Hurricane Hole Barto to the resort’s dock area, and designed for the addition of new shops, bars and a restaurant will be added in the marina area.
