Project Description
The CA Museum of Photography (also part of UCR ArtsBlock) in downtown Riverside. The by a appointment only research library space is in the basement of the 2 story museum (3 including the basement) with no natural light, so I knew I wanted to design something bright and the neutral color carpet and white walls allowed for that, I also thought of the old negative film that had shades of grey and a orange tint as well as it being transparent. The client wanted “wow” when you walked into the space, so I felt this was the ideal concept for the design. The museum is also very modern with an industrial ‘loft’ style architectural design (steel mezzanines and staircase) so the end panels on the book stacks needed to be very modern, colorful yet innovative with simple form (not ornate). So far, everyone loves the design., I also thought of the old negative film that had shades of grey and a orange tint as well as it being transparent.
