Project Description

Bromley East K-8 Charter School is an existing charter school located in Brighton, Colorado. Hord Coplan Macht designed a renovation and expansion of the school. The work included three separate additions to the existing school. The additions include a new performing arts center, middle school classroom wing, and auxiliary gymnasium. Playground and site improvements accommodate the new classroom wing, including relocating and upgrading the existing playground equipment and hardscape play areas. The performing arts center includes a new 350-seat auditorium, stage for dramatic and music performances, instrumental music classroom, drama classroom and associated theater support spaces. The middle school classroom wing includes three science classrooms, art classroom and general studies classrooms. Site constraints were by far the most significant challenges for the design of the addition. These were investigated through several design iterations balancing the technical space requirements of the performing arts facility with the limited site locations for the addition.
