Project Description
FROM THE DEVELOPER (July 31, 2015):
The innovative vision and architectural
design for Bahia Cabana was recently recognized by the Urban Land Institute (ULI), the most
prestigious real estate industry and professional educational organization in
the country. Bahia Cabana has
the distinction of being the only South Florida development selected to showcase a
top iconic property at
ULI’s national conference in San Francisco in October 2015.
Additionally, Bahia Cabana
was the only design ULI selected for a project that has yet to be built, an
unprecedented honor. The new mixed-use hotel, residential and commercial
redevelopment was singled out for several reasons: its ingenious architectural
design solution which is adapted for a unique space, the integration of a public/private
partnership, public accessibility and the preservation of oceanfront and
waterfront usage.
Developed by
Randolph Equity Partners
and designed by Jorge H. Garcia and Peter Stromberg, renowned architects at Garcia Stromberg, the new Bahia Cabana will uniquely
transform a strategic yet neglected property into a stunning gateway to Fort
Lauderdale Beach.
“South Florida is a mecca
for many of the world’s leading star architects and countless new exclusive developments,”
said Adam Sharif, principal, Randolph Equity Partners. “Having this incredible national
recognition bestowed on an iconic Fort Lauderdale property, which has been designed
and developed locally, is a huge accolade and a genuine honor. Everyone involved with and in support of the
project, from local residents to city officials, should be extremely proud.”
ULI’s fall conference will be held in San Francisco from October 5-8, 2015.
More than 6,000 industry leaders from around the world, representing various
sectors of real estate and land use, are expected to attend, share best
practices and learn about the latest information and trends affecting the
industry. At the conference Bahia Cabana’s development team will have a national
platform to showcase design plans which detail how to best transform an iconic
property with innovative solutions that enhance Fort Lauderdale Beach for the
betterment of all.
Fort
Lauderdale was recently ranked the second most walkable beachtown in the
country by the Huffington Post. Bahia Cabana’s fundamental design is in perfect
harmony with this trend as it encourages walkability. Bahia Cabana’s neighborhood-friendly
plan addresses the most crucial challenges facing the beach: parking and
traffic. In addition to creating a landmark gateway on A1A, it seeks to create
pedestrian-friendly walkways along A1A and the Intracoastal, and build a safe,
pedestrian-focused entry to the south end of the beach.
