Project Description

930 Washington Avenue is a mixed-use project which will herald the revitalization of this iconic street in South Beach. It is the result of a unique public-private partnership in which the City of Miami Beach and Simkins-Finvarb Development joined forces to address the parking crisis of this thriving sector of Miami Beach. With the creation of a new 145-room boutique hotel, the city has encouraged this innovative partnership with a vision of resolving an urgent need for the existing urban sector, while also furthering the plans to encourage new hotels along this street.

Washington Avenue was once one of the iconic streets of Miami Beach, but in recent years has lost most of its luster. In 1984, Venturi and Scott Brown first envisioned the revitalization of the street, which now has been finally formalized through a re-zoning which stimulates precisely this use. The new mixed-use complex will do much to create a gateway to Washington Avenue and test a partnership between the public and the private sector as a means of stimulating responsible development in the urban core.
