Project Description

This 9,000-SF project relocates the existing dental clinic to the third floor. To accommodate new functions, the design required demolition of a large portion of the third floor, leaving a shell to accommodate future expansion. The clinic will provide space for 2 dentists, 1 hygienist and administrative support as well as X-Ray and operatory capabilities.

AE Works’ design focuses on patient safety and providing a welcoming environment. The new space revolves around a core area with support functions and offices and treatment rooms surrounding the central area.

All of the general treatment rooms are located along the east wall, where a glass wall system is planned for the corridor-side of the treatment rooms. This wall is designed to enhance visibility and light while providing patient privacy.

The west side of the clinic creates a ‘staff zone’ that includes support space, offices, a staff lounge and restrooms. With the creating of two ‘zones’ in the dental clinic, patients do not have to unnecessarily walk through support administration spaces, while non-clinical staff are able to access the administration area without passing through the patient zone. The staff zone is delineated by a change in flooring to clearly show the different spaces.

Located on the west side of the floor, the waiting and reception area design creates a welcoming space with access to plenty of daylight and consideration to patient privacy. The interior design and materials are meant to convey a clean and comfortable space to both employees and visitors.

Infrastructure upgrades to support the new space’s function involve medical gas, including medical air, vacuum, and oxygen.
