Special Edition Eames LTR Table Colors

A low tea table is recast in the bold colors that define the Eames’ work

1 MIN READ

Herman Miller is offering the Eames Wire Base Low Table, or LTR, in three special-edition colors to honor the 100th birthday of the late abstract expressionist Hans Hofmann, who helped develop Ray Eames’ color-mindedness. The new hues—cobalt blue, red-orange, and a golden yellow—were among the most prominent featured in the Eames’ work, including Case Study House No. 8. Circa 1950, the table’s design was borne from the husband-and-wife design team’s exploration of the use of wire in furniture design. At 10 inches tall, the table originally was used by the Eames when hosting traditional Japanese tea ceremonies with notable guests. The latest rendition of the LTR is veneered in ash with a colored, aniline stain and a matching powder coated wire base. The release is part of Herman Miller’s Select Editions line, which in the past has featured George Nelson’s 1961 Tray Table (2011); the Eames Hang-It-All in walnut and black (2010); and the Eames’ molded plywood LCW chair with cowhide upholstery (2008).
