Yale symposium examines role, challenges of architectural drawing in digital era

Architectural drawings have historically represented the design process and even stand alone as an art form. In the advancing era of digital renderings, does this most basic method of conveying spatial concepts, materials, and textures remain relevant? This weekend symposium presented by the Yale School of Architecture offers sessions and panels to explore every aspect of how the skill of drawing fits into the current and future pedagogy and practice of architecture. Speakers will share diverse viewpoints, among them that the demise of drawing is evidence of the diminishing importance of architects and, to the contrary, that it may represent the expansion of innovation and advancement for the profession. The symposium takes place Feb. 9-11, 2012. Registration is free, but reservations are required.
