Effective July 1, Helene Combs Dreiling, FAIA, will step down from her position as executive director of the Branch Museum of Architecture and Design. Taking her place will be current museum director Craig Reynolds, who will take on Dreiling’s responsibility of reporting to the museum Board of Trustees in addition to his daily oversight of the museum, staff, exhibitions, educational programs, and community engagement exercises.
According to a press release from the museum, “Reynolds is an architectural historian specializing in American architecture and decorative arts, with a focus on the built environment of the early American Republic. He holds a doctorate from Virginia Commonwealth University.” Reynolds wrote his dissertation on Thomas Jefferson’s influence over the design of the United States Capitol and recently has published an essay expanding on his dissertation on Jefferson’s role in shaping public architecture.
Under Reynolds’ direction, the museum will continue to follow its mission to “elevate awareness of the transformative power of architecture and design,” according to the Branch Museum website.
