Another Ludwig Mies van der Rohe–designed townhouse is up for grabs in the coveted Lafayette Park neighborhood in Detroit, and if the sale of another townhouse earlier this month is any indication, this one won’t last long.
At $159,000, it’s the highest asking price for a townhouse here to date (although the one that sold a few weeks ago, which held the previous record, went for above asking). Realtor Elizabeth Tintinalli of Real Estate One explains in an email that the higher asking price for this unit is due to a additional lower-level bedroom and bath. Curbed Detroit points out, however, that space may not legally be a bedroom since it does not have an operable window or exterior door that could serve as an emergency exit.
The townhouse, advertised at 4 bedrooms and 2.5 baths, was listed last Wednesday, and an open house was held on Sunday. It’s 1,400 square feet and was built in 1959, according to the listing.
Tintinalli says over email that the sellers were planning on reviewing three offers on the townhouse on Monday.
