In addition to July’s employment report, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics also released data today on job growth in June for smaller sectors of the economy.
The larger sector of architectural and engineering services added 6,400 jobs in July and 3,000 in June, according to today’s report.
Architectural services added 2,700 jobs in June, up from the 800 jobs added in May. June was the strongest month for job growth in architecture since February of 2007, when the industry added 3,100 jobs. (Although these numbers are frequently revised, so this could change.)
Landscape architecture lost 1,100 jobs in June, marking the worst month for the industry since October of 2012. June’s loss is in sharp contrast to April’s dramatic growth.
Engineering and drafting services added 1,500 jobs in June, which is 2,700 less than the jobs that were added in May.
