kohler closes canac’s doors

Kitchen and bath plumbing and fixture manufacturer Kohler Co. has announced the closing of its Canac kitchen cabinetry business (acquired in 1996) due to the weak U.S. housing market, softness in Canada’s construction market, and increasing materials and energy costs.

In a statement about the business’ closing, Canac president Ralph Howard said that all possible options were explored, including a sale of Canac’s assets, before the decision was made. Kohler’s other brands—including Sterling Plumbing, Kohler Plumbing, and Robern Mirrored Cabinets—are not affected. Read the full announcement here.
