Iconic Toy Gets Icelandic Makeover

Icelandic industrial designer Hlynur Atlason has reinvented the rubber duck for New York-based home decor design company Kontextür. Atlason’s Duck Harry design takes an iconic bath toy and gives it a grown-up makeover with bold geometry and clean lines. The durable silicone duck boasts a good-looking matte finish that resists scratches or scuffs. Although he can’t float, Duck Harry can be placed on his side as a toothbrush and toothpaste tube stand or left upright as a nostalgic paperweight. He’s even heavy enough to use as a doorstop or perhaps an adorable bookend for a kid’s room. Duck Harry is available in traditional rubber ducky yellow or a more subtle black and can be ordered from Kontextür’s website (along with other design-savvy bathroom accessories) for $28 plus shipping.
