The Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI), the entity that provides third-party certification of buildings and professionals pursuing LEED status, has launched a program to create an “elite class” of LEED experts and recognize significant professional achievements and exceptional contributions to the green building community.
A nomination is necessary for individuals to be eligible for the LEED Fellow designation. Ten years of green building experience is required, and nominees also must be LEED Accredited Professionals with specialty and must have held the LEED AP credential for at least eight cumulative years. Nominees will be evaluated on their expertise in five elements of green building mastery: technical proficiency, education and mentoring, leadership, commitment and service, and advocacy.
The GBCI is currently accepting nominations for the class of LEED Fellows through Jan. 7, 2011. Inductees will be announced at Greenbuild 2011. To nominate an individual for LEED Fellowship, visit www.gbci.org/fellow.
