Today the American Institute of Architects announced the first of this year’s keynote speakers for the 2018 AIA Conference on Architecture, which will be held from June 21 through June 23 in New York. David Adjaye, Hon. FAIA, founder of London– and New York–based firm Adjaye Associates, will speak at the June 21 keynote session at Radio City Music Hall. In the nearly two decades since the firm was established, it has produced work across a range of typologies, from Sugar Hill Housing in New York to the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C., designed in partnership with The Freelon Group, Davis Brody Bond, and SmithGroupJJR.
The day-one session will also include appearances from Tamara Eagle Bull, FAIA, the winner of the 2018 Whitney M. Young Jr. Award; critic Sarah Williams Goldhagen; Marc Morial, president and CEO of the National Urban League; and Julie Snow, FAIA, and Matt Kreilich, FAIA, principals of the 2018 Architecture Firm Award winner, Snow Kreilich Architects.
