BIM Enables Building Blitz in Bogalusa

The Jan. 18, 2008, edition of AIArchitect This Week reveals how nonprofit group Solid Rock Carpenters, led by Mark Eric Benner, AIA, constructed five Habitat for Humanity homes in Bogalusa, La., in a seven-day “Blitz Build.” Using building information modeling (BIM) software to overcome inefficiencies common to Habitat projects, SRC and Benner generated construction documents that allowed a crew of inexperienced volunteers to pre-construct building components, prepare them for shipping, and assemble them on site.
