This year’s Architect 50 list yielded a little bit of everything, from new firms debuting in the upper ranks, to mainstays once again asserting their dominance, to small firms proving that you don’t need to be big to be successful.

New firms topped each of the three categories that contribute the overall ranking: William Rawn Associates in business, ZGF Architects in sustainability, and Marlon Blackwell Architects in design.
