Announcing the 2019 Hanley Wood/AIA Opportunity Fund

State and local AIA chapters can apply now for the $5,000 grant program.

1 MIN READ

The Hanley Wood/AIA Opportunity Fund grant awards $5,000 to two AIA local or state chapters to support development in new membership recruitment programs, charrettes, lectures, youth education and continuing education.

Applications must be submitted by July 14, 2019, using the online form.

Previous applicants may apply, but any chapter that has previously received funding is ineligible. Prior project submissions are eligible as long as the project will still benefit from funding (completed projects do not qualify).

Last year’s winners were AIA Charlotte’s West Side Stories: An Equitable Neighborhood Housing Design Charrette to address strategies for ending the displacement of longtime residents in the city’s West Side neighborhood, and AIA Topeka’s partnership with the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library to make age-appropriate building kits accessible to community children to learn about design.
