Leddy Maytum Stacy Architects accepts the 2017 AIA Architecture Firm Award.

On Friday morning in Orlando, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) kicked off the second day of the AIA Conference on Architecture 2017 by announcing the Institute’s new leadership: 2018 first vice president/2019 president-elect William J. Bates, FAIA; 2018-19 treasurer Patrick P. Panetta, AIA; and 2018-20 at-large director Emily Grandstaff-Rice, FAIA. The Institute also recognized this year’s winners of the Twenty-Five Year, the Whitney M. Young Jr., and the Architecture Firm awards, given to I.M. Pei, FAIA’s Grand Louvre—Phase 1 project, the Detroit Collaborative Design Center, and Leddy Maytum Stacy Architects, respectively. Following the awards presentations, Eve Edelstein, Assoc. AIA, research director of Perkins+Will’s Human Experience Lab, and David Delgado and Dan Goods, two visual strategists from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, each spoke about their work and research. Designer and Pentagram partner Michael Bierut wrapped up the session with a panel discussion with the three speakers.
