aia and hud recognize housing projects

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) recently honored four projects with 2008 AIA/HUD Secretary Awards. The awards program recognizes excellence in affordable housing architecture, neighborhood design, participatory design, and accessibility.

The winners of the 2008 AIA/HUD Secretary Awards are:

  • Jonathan Segal, FAIA, for K Lofts, San Diego (Excellence in Affordable Housing Design Award)

  • Van Meter Williams Pollack, with associate architect Martinez Architects and Mission Housing Development Corp., for Valencia Gardens, San Francisco (Creating Community Connection Award)

  • GGLO, with associate architect Arellano/Christofides Architect, for Greenbridge, White Center, Wash. (Community-Informed Design Award)

  • Ruhl Walker Architects for Patrolia Loft, Boston (Housing Accessibility—Alan J. Rothman Award) View the slideshow to see details of the winning projects.
