The United States economy added 212,000 private nonfarm jobs in February, according to the monthly jobs report released today by payroll company ADP and Moody’s Analytics. February’s job growth is less than in January, which was revised up to 250,000 jobs added.
The construction sector added 31,000 jobs in February. That growth
holds steady from January’s job growth, which was revised up from 18,000
jobs. Manufacturing added only 3,000 jobs in February, a slowing of
growth from January. Last month was the worst month for manufacturing
job growth since January 2014. Professional and business services, which
likely includes architects and engineers, added 34,000 jobs last month.
This is also slower growth than January’s revised figure.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics is scheduled to release its February jobs report on Friday, which provides more specific details about job growth in the construction, architecture, and engineering fields.
