Firm Description

Map13 Barcelona is an architectural association dedicated to research and teaching on the role of traditional construction systems in contemporary architecture. The collective, founded in 2011 by Marta Domènech, David López López and Mariana Palumbo, aims to achieve a more sustainable architecture. Their work has been internationally awarded and exhibited at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2018, Beyond Building Barcelona Construmat 2015 and the Sweden’s National Centre for Architecture and Design, among others. They have published several articles on the topic of Catalan vaulting and its historical development. They have also conducted numerous hands-on workshops building with this technique in New York, Barcelona, Madrid and as experts for the UN Habitat Seventh World Urban Forum in Medellin.
