Firm Description

DOWLING STUDIOS is a bi-coastal, custom residential architecture firm based in San Francisco, California and Princeton, New Jersey.

Julie and Leslie Dowling began their careers in the Princeton office of Michael Graves while attending Princeton University’s Graduate School of Architecture. From there, they pursued separate careers that at one point had them working on separate continents. While Leslie worked in Madrid, Spain and New York City, Julie was developing and establishing what is now DOWLING STUDIOS, on the West Coast.

DOWLING STUDIOS has established a working philosophy that is based on a commitment to timeless, modern design. As a small office, we maintain an active and direct relationship with each project – guiding every decision to the smallest detail. Architecture, interiors and furniture are approached collectively; creating an environment that is cohesive, thoughtful and fully connected to its site. Throughout the design process, modern design ideas are integrated with the surrounding context, creating a seamless flow and inclusion of the exterior as part of the interior living space.
