Will Alsop Joins RMJM

1 MIN READ

Only weeks after announcing his intention to quit architecture and focus on painting, Stirling Prize–winner Will Alsop has joined the UK-based firm RMJM to lead a new, branded studio, Will Alsop at RMJM. He will work out of the firm’s London office but lead projects worldwide, including in the United States, a market that RMJM is aggressively moving into following its acquisition of the New Jersey firm Hillier Architecture in 2007.

The 61-year-old Alsop is one of Britain’s most famous architects. Notable projects include the Peckham Library—for which he won the Stirling Prize in 2000—and the Sharp Centre for Design in Toronto. Known for his use of vibrant colors and bloblike forms, Alsop intends in his new role to “[take] the design credentials of the London office to the next exciting phase,” he said in an RMJM press release.
