USGBC Recognized for Accomplishments Made in Improving Sustainability

1 MIN READ

The Washington, D.C.–based National Building Museum recognized the U.S. Green Building Council and its president, chief executive officer, and founding chairman Rick Fedrizzi, with its 2009 Honor Award. The award acknowledges leadership in environmental issues and the significant accomplishments made in improving sustainability within the built environment. “It’s an honor to be recognized amongst many visionary leaders in the sustainability moment, and by an organization that has exhibited continued leadership within the built environment,” Fedrizzi says. “The green-building movement offers an opportunity to respond to the most important challenges of our times, and we remain single-mindedly committed to delivering on our vision of green buildings for everyone within a generation.”

In other USGBC news, the organization recently received the IMEX Green Meetings Award in recognition of the 2008 Greenbuild International Conference and Expo in Boston. The award is presented in partnership with the Green Meeting Industry Council, Hattiesburg, Miss. It judges applicants against their ability to demonstrate innovative efforts to significantly minimize the environmental impact of a meeting or conference. This is the third time USGBC has received this honor. For more information, visit www.usgbc.org, and to learn more about Greenbuild, visit www.greenbuild365.org.
