Yesterday, the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) released the list of winners of its 2015 LEED for Homes Awards, recognizing five sustainable residential projects, as well as developers and builders who focus on green building. Recipients must have either completed an outstanding project in the previous year or are proven leaders in the field of sustainable home building.
The USGBC reports that nearly 196,500 residential units are currently participating in LEED, with more than 82,000 projects having already earned the LEED for Homes certification. Of those certified projects, 43 percent are considered affordable housing.
