Yesterday, Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara were named the 2020 Pritzker Architecture Prize laureates, an honor that comes on the heels of the 2020 RIBA Royal Gold Medal they received last month. The Pritzker Architecture Prize honored McNamara and Farrell as individuals instead of as their Dublin-based firm, Grafton Architects, making them the second and third Irish natives honored in the award’s history.
Since founding Grafton Architects in 1978, the duo has designed structures around the world, including numerous projects that focus on, and encourage a sense of, community. Here are nine standout examples of their work.
