The National Building Museum in Washington, D.C., has announced the return of its Summer Block Party. This year, the event, which has previously taken the form of interactive installations that filled the building’s entire Great Hall, will be formatted into smaller projects and public programs better suited to a post-pandemic society. The museum’s 2020 Summer Block Party, a partnership with Folger Shakespeare Library, was postponed due to COVID-19.

The 2021 Summer Block party will include indoor and outdoor programming, including artist meet-and-greets, interactive lawn art, and outdoor film screenings hosted in partnership with the DowntownDC Business Improvement District. The event will also include a number of installations, including a book-filled wooden maze by the local sculptor Foon Sham, a truss for the Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral, and a pavilion from Boston- and Kigali, Rwanda–based MASS Design Group.
