Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates Chosen for Obama Presidential Center

The landscape firm behind Chicago's 606 park joins architecture firm Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects I Partners on the team designing the library in Jackson Park.

Ten days after President Barack Obama left office, the Obama Foundation has announced the landscape architecture team for the former president’s library project in Chicago. Set to be located in Chicago’s Jackson Park, the center will house the foundation’s offices as well as archival material from the Obama administration.

Joining the architecture team of New York firm Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects I Partners and Chicago-based Interactive Design Architects, New York– and Cambridge, Mass.–based Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates (MVVA), working with Chicago studios Site Design Group and Living Habitats, will design the landscape for the Obama Presidential Center. MVVA’s work in Chicago includes the 2.7-mile-long 606 park, Maggie Daley Park, and Spider Island.
