Last year, New York–based developer Lotus Equity Group bought the the site formerly occupied by the Newark Bears minor league baseball team for $23.5 million, according to an article on NJ.com, and plans to convert the 8-acre site into a mixed-use development featuring 2,000 residential units and 400,000 square feet of offices.
The developer commissioned New York–based Practice for Architecture and Urbanism (PAU) in 2016 to develop the plan, as well as contribute to the design of the project’s first phase. Today, the developer announced that two more design architects have been added to the project—Michael Green Architecture, based in Vancouver, and TEN Arquitectos, based in New York and Mexico City—as well as an architect of record, New Jersey firm Minno & Wasko Architects and Planners.
“We chose a team of architects that will not only create beautiful buildings, but also shares our commitment to urban planning and design that will thoughtfully support the urban renewal of Newark’s Central Ward,” said Ben Korman, CEO and founder of Lotus Equity Group, in a press release.
