When the U.C. Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAM/PFA) opens in its new home in 2016, it will feature more than 150 pieces in an exhibition titled “Architecture of Life,” the museum announced this week.
According to a BAM/PFA press release, the exhibition will feature art, architectural models and drawings, and scientific illustrations from artists and architects such as Ruth Asawa, Marcel Duchamp, Toyo Ito, Hon. FAIA, and Lebbeus Woods, as well as the new building’s architects, New York’s Diller Scofidio + Renfro. The Berkeley, Calif. museum, founded in 1963, is moving down the hill from the concrete, Mario Ciampi-designed structure that it called home for 44 years to a 83,000-square-foot redo and addition to a 1939 printing plant in downtown Berkeley, located on the west side of the university campus.
