The AIA has announced its latest Gold Medal winner, Julia Morgan, who was honored 50 years after her death, and is the first woman to receive the award. With the help of Esto’s archivists, ARCHITECT has compiled a retrospective look at AIA Gold Medal winners of the last ten years.

2011 Fumihiko Maki, Hon. FAIA, of Tokyo-based firm Maki and Associates.


2010 Peter Bohlin, FAIA, of Bohlin Cywinski Jackson.


2009 Glenn Murcutt, of Glenn Murcutt & Associates.


2008 Renzo Piano, Hon. FAIA, of Renzo Piano Building Workshop.


2007 Edward Larrabee Barnes, awarded posthumously.


2006 Antoine Predock, FAIA, of Albuquerque-based firm Antoine Predock Architect.


2005 Santiago Calatrava, AIA.
